I often struggle with the hyper-awareness of events beyond my control that you refer to here in this article Iva. I’m sometimes a little envious of people who are able to be present in the moment and live their life from one moment to the next without having an existential crisis. It comes across as a fulfilling and pleasant attitude to have and I appreciate cultures that cultivate this sense of carefree living. I’m curious though, what do you find the general attitude towards political, social or environmental issues is in Guatemala? Do you think that this kind of lifestyle and the mentality that life is just fine the way it is could negatively affect conscientiousness and activism? Interesting.
