Hi there Chris. Thanks for reading. I definitely think there are similarities between the governments of today and Roman times that we can draw upon to help diagnose what our democracies are now experiencing. If the study of Western history has taught us anything it’s that leaders being replaced in short succession very acutely exposes the weaknesses of prevailing goverance structures. It’s a trend that naturally repeats itself, leadership in crisis equals governance in crisis.
