Hi Tessa, thanks for your review. It’s awesome that you picked up this beauty for such a cheap price. Disturbing though these books may be, they are truly poignant in their objectiveness. The best thing about Harari is that he is able to write about humans from such a detached vantage point, hence his use of the scientific name for our species in his analysis. He is not taking in considerations relevant to the human experience, for example our innate need to prescribe meaning to life. If the books come across as bleak, it is only because Harari expertly avoids the pitfalls of including human perspectives/biases and judgements.

I once heard someone say that Homo Sapiens was the book they would give an Alien to explain who we are and where we have come from. I would definitely agree!
