“Don’t wait until the fear is gone. Act while you feel fear.” Damn, that is poignant to my life right now. I recently fought and won my first cage fight as a mixed martial artist. Between the 13 training sessions a week in the month leading up to the fight, dieting to make weight and then stepping into a cage against a trained opponent, I honestly didn’t know if it was something I could do. Everyday I was scared of training, of going up against fighters much better than me, fighters that hit hard. I remember one night after a particularly hard session I sat in my car and thought to myself “This fear isn’t going anywhere, you’re going to have to shoulder it and keep going if you have any hope of getting through this”. I didn’t realize it at the time but that commitment to act while feeling fear was pivotal, not just to me winning the fight but to how I now approach life and adversity. Great article mate.
